It’s going to be a busy end of year as Malawians will have the joy of watching US based R&B group, Dru Hill with its lead singer Sisqo who rocked the world in the 1990s with a hit ‘Unleash the Dragon.’

The group will perform at the Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.

Dru Hill will perform in the country on December 12 courtesy of Peermont President Hotel that is operating the world class hospitality, conference and entertainment facilities at Umodzi Park in Lilongwe.

Umodzi Park’s Sales and Marketing Manager Temwa Kanjadza broke the news in Lilongwe yesterday saying this is a mark of diversification of her company which will take the entertainment industry by storm by inviting world class artists for performances.

“We are not just into hotel and conference services. We are also into entertainment and this is how we start and the country should expect more from us,” said Kadzanja.

The outdoor performance will be curtain-raised by musician Skeffa Chimoto.

The band’s performance with the lead singer Sisqo will precede the show at the other Peermont run, the Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg during the band’s Africa tour.

“We settled for Dru Hill because the group is well known in Malawi and it is relevant to many of our customers and we expect a great show that Malawians will be excited about,” said Kadzanja.

The group’s repertoire includes soul, hip hop soul and gospel music.

Founded in Baltimore, Maryland, and active since 1992, Dru Hill recorded seven Top 40 hits, and is best known for the R&B number one hits ‘In My Bed’, ‘Never Make a Promise’, and ‘How Deep Is Your Love’.

Tamir “Nokio the N-Tity” Ruffin was the group’s founder; his bandmates included lead singer Mark “Sisqó” Andrews, Larry “Jazz” Anthony, and James “Woody Rock” Green.
