Duncan Nyoni Injured during trials


Silver Strikers attacking midfielder Duncan Nyoni suffered a major setback when he got injured during trials at National First Division (NFD) side, Highlands Park, in South Africa.
Nyoni, whose skills include dribbling and creating opportunities for team-mates, sustained an injury on Saturday.
South Africa’s Malawian correspondent, Benjamin Nyirenda, confirmed that the former Civil Sporting Club Reserve player’s trials have been thrown into serious doubt due to the injury.
“Not so good. The boy got injured on Saturday at training and that may affect his trials right now,” Nyirenda said.
Efforts to speak to Highlands Coach Owen Da Gama and Director Larry Highland proved futile yesterday.
Silver interim General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, MonMTL optimistic about the futureday said the club was still waiting for communication from the South African club on progress of the trials.
“We are in touch with the boy and he said that everything is going well at the moment. I have just spoken to him in the morning but he did not tell me anything about the injury,” Nyirenda said.
Reports suggest that a Mozambican team is also interested in Nyoni.
The versatile winger was a revelation in the TNM Super League in 2016 but struggled last season due to an ankle injury.
The NDF leaders nearly signed Nyasa Big Bullets defender Miracle Gabeya last season but pulled out of the deal due to disagreements over a transfer fee.
