Duncan Nyoni out of opener
Silver Striker blossoming attacker, Duncan Nyoni, will likely miss the opening stanza of the 2017 TNM Super league season due to an ankle injury.
Nyoni’s absence could be a blow to Silver who are eyeing silverware in the forthcoming season.
Nyoni sustained the injury in a pre-season match against Mafco earlier this month. He is on Plaster of Paris (POP).
Silver Head Coach, Lovemore Fazili, confirmed that the winger would be out for weeks.
“Definitely, he will not be ready for the first two games of the season. We hope that he would recover quickly because he is one of the reliable players,” Fazili said.
The former Civo United Reserve forward, who can play in both wings, was a revelation last season at Silver alongside winger Thuso Paipi.
Nyoni on Monday said he was recovering.
“I might be able to start light training in the second week of May. I am getting better now,” Nyoni said.
In the absence of Nyoni, Silver have other wingers such as Blessings Tembo and Frank Chizuze.
Silver, who will open their campaign against Premier Bet Wizards on May 6, have bolstered their squad with 10 players.
