Dunga chairs CFTC
Continental Asset Management general manager, Daniel Dunga, has been elected chairperson of the board of commissioners of the Competition and Fair Trading Commission (CFTC).
Dunga was elected to the position by fellow commissioners recently during an extraordinary meeting of the CFTC board that took place in Mangochi.
In his acceptance speech following the election, Dunga said he will stand up to the challenge.
“When you are called up to duty, you should stand up to the challenge. I accept this challenge with humility,” said Dunga.
Dunga, a fellow of US President Barack Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative, becomes the fourth chairperson of the CFTC following in the footsteps of Gerard Chigona, Mathews Chikankheni and Llyod Muhara.
Apart from Dunga, the newly elected commission also includes Chigona, Joyce Mataya, Mike Mlombwa, Aubrey Chalera, Madalitso Mmeta and Kayisi Sadala.
Secretary to the treasury, secretary for industry and trade and general manager of the Malawi Bureau of Standards are ex-officio members on the CFTC board.
