Dwangwa United’s 4-0 win over Nchalo United last Sunday has ignited the Nkhotakota District team’s hope for a top-five finish in the TNM Super League.

Dwangwa Coach, Lloyd Nkhwazi, Thursday said he was confident that his boys would achieve the target.

Sunday’s win pushed Dwangwa to position eight on the log table, barely three days after the team’s players threatened to boycott training over outstanding dues.

“Our target is to avoid fighting relegation as was the case last season. We need to play well in this round so that, in the next round, we should be at ease. The secret is to just approach every game with caution and get maximum points since, at this stage, every point counts,” Nkhwazi said.

Nkhwazi was hired last season to rescue the team from relegation.

However, one of the team’s senior player who opted for anonymity, said it was difficult for them to achieve that target due to lack of motivation.

The player said the team’s management delays in paying allowances; hence, this demotivates them.

Last week, the team’s Chairperson, Anorld Zenizeni, admitted that they were facing financial challenges but urged the players to be patient.

Dwangwa have won twice, lost twice and drawn once in the league.
