Dynamos complete signing of Scorchers duo

Football Association of Zambia (Faz) Women’s Super Division side Lusaka Dynamos has completed the signing of Malawi Women’s National Football Team defenders Patricia Nyirenda and Chimwemwe Madise on three-year deals.

Madise plays for DD Sunshine while Nyirenda plies her trade at Ntopwa.

The two players left the country for Zambia on Wednesday.

DD Sushine Director James Chavura confirmed that his player Madise had completed the deal.

“I can confirm that she has signed a contract with Dynamos. The club wanted her as soon as possible because the league in Zambia is in progress. We expect to get the full payment this week,” Chavura said.

However, Ntopwa owner Isaac ‘Jomo’ Osman expressed ignorance on the matter.

“Patricia is still my player. I do not know anything at the moment,” Osman said.

The deals will see Sunshine and Ntopwa pocketing $2,000 (about K1.5 million) each as development fees.

Dynamos will also pay the two stars their signing-on-fees, monthly salary and bonuses.

Nyirenda and Madise became the first Malawian women footballers to join the Zambian club, whose men’s side signed Nyasa Big Bullets midfielder Dalitso Sailesi some three years ago.

The development means Malawi has four top players plying their trade outside the country, with Tabitha Chawinga and her younger sister Temwa on the books of Wuhan FC in China.

Nyirenda and Madise are expected to be part of the Scorchers squad which will face Zambia in the women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.

Malawi will start the encounter at home on June 7 before travelling to Zambia on June 15 for the second leg.
