E-Wallet organisers Wednesday finally unveiled the K3 million second hand Nissan Tiida, which will go to the winner of Season 6 during a press conference held at Malawi Sun in Blantyre.

During the press conference, E-Wallet organisers and Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) also signed an agreement which will see the two parties supporting each other during the event.

E-Wallet Chairperson Felix Njawala said the competition will this year be beamed in several TV stations to give a chance to more people to watch but with the agreement, ZBS has the first exclusive rights, meaning that they will be the first to air the competition and that after 48 hours beamed by other TV stations.

“We are thankful to Zodiak for coming in, we want partnerships to grow this competition which we want it to be international. So ZBS has been flexible, they wanted this to also be beamed on other TV stations despite having the exclusive rights,” he said.

Njawala also said this year the Blantyre shows, including the launch on October 24, will be held at M Theatre formally Cine Cinema. The shows will be moving from Blantyre and Lilongwe.

ZBS has even supported the organisers in pumping in money for the purchase of the Nissan Tiida.

“This is a Malawian initiative and so as ZBS we are also a Malawian TV station hence coming in to partner E-Wallet organisers. We will actually be beaming the competition on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays from 7:30pm,” said ZBS Director of Commerce Africano Phiri.

Having conducted auditions in the three cities of Mzuzu, Blantyre and Lilongwe, the organisers picked 14 contestants but will chop two before starting the competition.

“This year we are also introducing the worst contestant. We will have two platforms where people will be voting for the winner and then the worst contestant.

The idea is not to demean the worst contestant but we want to encourage people to participate. Some people take the courage to participate, they are good at making people laugh and not singing so people would vote them to see them perform again during the final,” he said.

He also said that starting this year they will be following up on the winners and that the winner this year will be regarded as an ambassador for a period of a year.
