Ecobank Malawi donates to Map
One of the country’s commercial banks, Ecobank Malawi, on Saturday donated wheelchairs and K2.15 million to the Malawi Against Physical Disabilities (Map).
The donation will help the institution provide care to patients in dire need of financial and material support.
Ecobank Chief Executive Officer, Charles Aseidu, said the donation is part of activities marking Ecobank Day which is celebrated in December every year.
Asiedu said Ecobank focuses its support on education, health and environment, adding that the donation would alleviate some of the challenges patients face.
“Every year, we appreciate the environment. For this year, we are here to donate having learnt that they have challenges which need our support,” he said.
Aseidu noted that the bank believes in giving back to people in line with its corporate social responsibility since 2013.
“Last year, we donated to Zingwangwa Health Centre and in 2015 went to Limbe Health Centre,” Asiedu said.
Representatives of Map described the donation as timely, saying the centre does not have enough wheelchairs for patients.
The representatives said the funds would help facelift organisation’s infrastructure.
