Eddingtone Ng’onamo runs Nkhotakota academy
Former Malawi national football team coach and technical director, Eddingtone Ng’onamo, who has been ill for some time, is back on the field of play after establishing a football academy in Nkhotakota District.
Ng’onamo, who has been down with diabetes for seven months, has been recuperating at his daughter’s home in Nkhotakota District since December, and thought of coming up with the academy.
“I am now fit. If teams want my services, I am available. I have established an under-15 academy to unearth talent from the grassroots. I mostly go to Denmark to coach, so I also take this as an opportunity to export youngsters to interact with their counterparts in academies. I have identified one in the academy whom I may send to Denmark,” he said, adding that the academy would still be operational when he leaves Nkhotakota.
“I have already appointed directors and coaches who will be in charge when I leave but I will be coming here regularly for supervision. I want to also establish another academy in Lilongwe.”
Ng’onamo said he was grateful to Football Association of Malawi President, Walter Nyamilandu, for supporting him when he was sick.
