Egypt ambassador takes office in Malawi

New Egyptian Ambassador to Malawi Mohamed Elsharif has reiterated his government’s commitment to helping Malawi in areas such as security.
Elsharif said this Tuesday when he presented letters of credence to President Lazarus Chakwera at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.
He said he was instructed by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to advance development goals of the two nations.
“We have a long history since independence days. We have values and shared aspirations to achieve,” he said.
Elsharif said he would ensure that the people of the two countries enjoy development, security and stability.

Mathews Kasanda is a journalist who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from University of Malawi (The Polytechnic).
In 2015, Media Institute of Southern Africa awarded him the Best Print Media Education Journalist of the Year accolade.
