“Tachilowa”, “We are in the New Year”, “Thank God we are in 2023,” these were the sentiments that people made at exactly 12 midnight in Blantyre during the Big White Party organised by Entertainers Promotions soon after they had entered the New Year.
A few minutes to midnight, host of the colourful event that was not strictly white but was tagged all white and saw many dressed in white outfits, Super DT, led people to a countdown to 2023.
Screams of happiness followed thereafter, with fireworks engulfing the skies thrown from the rooftop of Amaryllis Hotel, where the Big White Party took place, and various places across the commercial city.
People partied; there was food to eat and then music served by different artists including Piksy, Onesimus and Zeze Kingston backed by a DJ.
Entertainers Promotions Director Tonderai Banda hailed people for showing up for the Big White Party and promised more goodies in 2023.
“Glory be to God, we are in 2023. We are excited and, as Entertainers Promotions, we have more in the New Year,” Tonderai said.
Amaryllis Hotel General Manager Ramy Waheed was also excited with the Big White Party and said the hotel will continue offering people maximum entertainment in 2023.
After his performance, Piksy, who sparkled with his song ‘Anana’, said he was thankful to God to have entered 2023.
Phyzix described 2022 as tough but called on people to stay positive and work together to succeed in 2023.
Having done a number of international shows, including performing in the United Kingdom, the award-winning Onesimus said he is looking forward to more international shows this year.
Miss Culture Malawi Memory Sanjira also described 2022 as tough in that the creative industry lost a lot of people.
Miss Malawi Second Princess Roberta Kanjelo said 2022 will remain the best in that she got crowned the Miss Malawi Second Princess.
