Artists of late to launch albums, so far have not disappointed in terms of pulling the numbers. Now the platform is set for Eli Njuchi, who launches his 10-track Red Flag at Mangochi Stadium.

While several acts opt to launch their albums in the major cities of Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu and Zomba, Njuchi has decided to do it differently by launching Red Flag first in Mangochi.

“As an artist I am at service to the people, I realised that we mostly focus on the usual places and yet in other areas there are also people who support us and want to see us perform. Mangochi became so close and I decided this is where I was going to launch,” he said.

His latest track ‘Gugugu’ off Red Flag is now an anthem and it always thrills during gigs with the latest spark being last Saturday when he briefly appeared at Gwamba’s True Independence album launch at Blantyre Sports Club.

In fact Gwamba is on the list of artists spicing up the launch which also includes Kell Kay, Atoht Manje, Lulu, Njuchi Zitatu, Black Nina, Piksy, Sangie, Driemo and Janta.

His manager Prince Chikweba said people should brace for fireworks,

Recorded at Matrix Records in Blantyre by Sispence, apart from ‘Gugugu’, the album has songs such as ‘Chilembwe’, ‘Too Long’, ‘ Bodza’, ‘Block and Delete’, ‘Dzina’, ‘4Hrs’ and ‘Yampeza’.

Njuchi described Red Flag as a general term nowadays “by a lot of us in trying to tell each other to be aware of things we should not condone in time we are getting to know someone or even in a relationship before those things become big influence in hurt while today”.

“So, the collection was inspired by such situations where small things are allowed to become very difficult to deal with in relationships. He said he was where he is today because of the support he has got from people.

“I don’t take people’s support for granted. They have made me and they should not stop supporting me,” Njuchi said.

His previous projects are The Book of Z and The Book of Eli.
