Elim Sunflower sponsors chess
Southern Region Chess League (SRCL) has secured K100,000 sponsorship from Elim Sunflower Cooking Oil.
The sponsorship is for a day-long under-12 chess tournament scheduled for Royal Heritage Academy in Blantyre.
National Coordinator for Chess in Schools, Margret Ngugama, said SRCL has invited schools to participate in the tournament.
Ngugama also advised learners to put on school uniform when taking part in the tournament.
One player to watch at the event is wonder-boy, Yebo Sanga, who recently represented Malawi at the Africa Junior Championship in Zimbabwe.
There is also talented Daisy Huwa, Dumisani Maweja, Troy Namaona, Eugene Mkandawire, Mishelle Chimbe , Maziko Madanitsa, Careb Msonda, Ronia and Ryan Drennon, Quinton Munkhwapa, Mayamiko and Matamando Manda, Joel Chikwiri, Mwenecho Mwenechanya, Chikondi Nyirenda, Peter Chamdimba and Zonse Chibisa.
Elim Sunflower Cooking Oil is produced by Fresh Tender Baskets.
The firm’s Managing Director, Dalitso Wandawanda, said their brand of cooking oil was good for children.
