Ellias Ngalande appointed new FDH Bank boss

Former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) governor, Ellias Ngalande, has been appointed Managing Director of one of the country’s high street banks, FDH bank.
The appointment is with effect from January 2 2020.
Ngalande takes over from Ivorian, Eric Ouattara, who has been holding the position since 2016.
According to a press statement signed by FDH Bank Public Relations Officer, Lorraine Lusinje, Ngalande will lead the implementation of FDH Bank’s strategy championing innovation, digital solutions, financial inclusion and superior customer service delivery.
“Ngalande is coming in to manage FDH bank with over 30 years’ experience, working in strategic management positions in the public and private sectors locally complemented with international exposure,” the statement reads.
He served as General Manager for Admarc Investment Holding Company, Secretary to Treasury at Ministry of Finance, Deputy Governor and Governor of RBM and also worked with international institutions such as the Microeconomic and Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa as its Executive Director.
Ngalande holds a PhD in Economics and a Master’s Degree in Political Economy from Boston University in the United States, a Master’s of Science in development Economics from University of Strathclyde in Scotland and a Bachelor’s of Social Science Degree from University of Malawi’s Chancellor College.
