Entertainers promises tight security at phungwe Thursday
After successfully entertaining people at Zitherepano in Mangochi on Christmas Eve, Entertainers Promotions in partnership with Carlsberg Malawi hosts what it dubs Sound and Light concert grand finale at Lilongwe Golf Club.
The Sound and Light concert will start in the afternoon today through to the early hours of tomorrow – New Year.
Entertainers Promotions’ Tonderai Banda said Wednesday that all was set for the concert and that there will be tight security.
“Some people tend to be worried with security when it comes to patronising such concerts especially on New Year but we are saying it will all be safe, people will enjoy the music vibes and we have put in place enough security,” he said.
Tonderai said this was the last show for Entertainers Promotions in the year 2015 and so it was important for people to patronise it and end it in style.
“We have been holding street parties but this time around we are doing it differently, we started off in Mangochi on Christmas Eve through to Christmas and now we have the climax on New Year’s Eve through to the New Year,” said Tonderai.
He said the concert will give people a chance to celebrate as they will be kissing good bye to 2015 and welcoming 2016.
“The year 2015 has been so wonderful for Entertainers Promotions, people have supported us in our Sound and Light concert project which was a success in Lilongwe early this year and then we had it again in Salima in September so this like the grand finale,” he said.
Tonderai said the stage will be bigger just as they have done in all their previous shows and that people will experience sound, light and bubbles.
“As Entertainers Promotions we have proved to Malawians that we can host different events. Of course we still have room for improvement but we are getting there step by step. At the moment we are working on perfecting sound and light engineering which is a problem otherwise we have the equipment,” he said.
Tonderai also said that the year 2015, they had the priviledge of working with gospel musicians during their concerts.
“We will continue to work with all the artists in the year 2016 and we are looking forward to getting views from people on how we can improve and serve them better,” he said.
Some of the artists set to perform at the Sound and Light grand finale include Alleluya Band, Black Missionaries, Skeffa Chimoto, Lucius Banda, Lulu, Elly K, Dan Lufani, Lambanie Dube, Sam Simakweli, Anthony Makondetsa and Moda Fumulani.
Black Missionaries lead vocalist Anjiru Fumulani said they were ready for the concert today and that it will give them time to interact with their fellow artists but also the fans.
“We are ready, this is a special concert as we will be bidding farewell to 2015 and then welcoming 2016. It has been a long year; we thank God for being with us throughout the year 2015.
We also would like to thank people for their support throughout 2015.
Black Missionaries is there because of people’s support,” said Anjiru.
