Epac court Audloy Makonyola
Barely days after parting ways with Abasi Makawa, Epac FC have turned their attention to Malawi Under-14 national football team coach, Audloy Makonyola, as his replacement.
Reports suggest that Makonyola could be unveiled as Epac coach this week to replace Makawa, who resigned due to contractual disputes.
Epac team manager, Sam Elias, confirmed Wednesday that the former Eagles Strikers coach is the favourite for the job.
Elias said discussions are at an advanced stage.
“Talks are progressing well. We need an experienced coach to build a strong team, and we believe Makonyola could be the best choice for the club,” he said.
Makonyola yesterday refused to comment on the discussions.
The former Blue Eagles assistant coach is one of the highly-qualified coaches in the country having attended Uefa courses.
Former Be Forward Wanderers coach, Stuart Mbolembole and Gilbert Chirwa were also linked with the job.
Makonyola had a stint with Epac in 2014 before he was fired due to poor performance of the team. He was then replaced by Leo Mpulula.
Epac endured a difficult campaign in the TNM Super League having survived the chop on their last game of the season after defeating Dedza Young Soccer 2-1 at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
