Epac to be called Civil Sporting Club

Epac Football Club will reportedly change its name to CIVIL Sporting Club.

The club is finalising its name change with the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) after the government dumped relegated Civo United.

Details emerged recently that Epac secured sponsorship from OPC, which ordered the name change.

A committee, which is looking into the transition, has now settled for the new name.

But the move has been viewed as a back door plan for Civo to remain in the TNM Super League.

Civo General Secretary, Thomas Makiwa, dodged the issue when asked for a comment.

“There is a management committee which was set up and there are several issues they are discussing with Football Association of Malawi (Fam). I cannot confirm that name because once the issue has been concluded, the public will know it,” Makiwa said.

Fam Club Licensing Manager, Casper Jangale, said he would comment later this week.

Fam did not grant Epac a provisional licence for them to play in the league this season.

But Civo reportedly submitted documents requesting the licence, only for Fam to reject the proposal.

Civo got relegated after finishing second from bottom last season.

Coach Franco Ndawa is currently drilling Civo and Epac players.
