Ernest Kakhobwe joins Flames squad

IN CAMP—Kakhobwe

Meck Mwase

Malawi National Football Team first choice goalkeeper Ernest Kakhobwe has joined the senior side’s squad, having undergone a scan in Lilongwe to determine his state.

Flames coach Meck Mwase, while confirming that the Nyasa Big Bullets goalkeeper had reported for camping, could not be drawn to say if Kakhobwe had been declared fit after struggling with knee and ankle injuries recently.

“We are still assessing him but the good thing is that he has joined camp as there is a gap in goalkeeping,” he said.

The Flames number one underwent a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan in Lilongwe last week to examine if he had overcome ankle and knee injuries.

Kakhobwe has not featured for Bullets for the past two months as Bullets Head Coach Kalisto Pasuwa is using Richard Chimbamba.

The development comes as the Flames prepare for an international friendly against Tanzania’s Taifa Stars slated for Sunday in Dar es Salaam.
