Former Flames forward, Esau Kanyenda, says his compatriot, Muhammad Sulumba, has a strong chance of securing a deal with South African Premier League Soccer (PSL) side, Polokwane City.
The Nyasa Big Bullets striker is undergoing trials with Polokwane having travelled there last week alongside John Lanjesi.
The former Civo United defender has since been sent back due to an injury.
But the former Blantyre United forward has received backing from Kanyenda.
“I am really excited with the way he is playing here, but the technical panel will make a final decision. He is professional and I am confident that if he continues performing well, he will be signed,” Kanyenda said on Tuesday.
Kanyenda recommended Sulumba to the South African club.
According to Kanyenda, Polokwane were ready to offer Lanjesi an outright contract but the injury forced the club to look for other options.
However, Sulumba faces tough competition from Belgian striker Christie. City hired new coach, Luc Eymael, ahead of the new season.
Last year, Sulumba failed to make the grade at Cosmos having attended trials alongside Micium Mhone.
Mhone signed a two-year deal after impressing the club.
