Escom units at Indebank ATMs

INDEBANK has entered into an agreement with the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) for the bank to start selling prepaid electricity units at its Auto teller machines (ATMs) countrywide.

Indebank marketing manager, Maxwell Ng’ambi, disclosed yesterday that Indebank customers will be able to start buying the units from the bank’s (ATMs) on Monday.

He said the steps to follow in buying the units are similar to the ones followed when buying telephone airtime from the platform.

“The process is easy, simple, straightforward and user friendly,” said Ng’ambi.

“There will also be no transaction fee for the purchase of the units.

Customers should just ensure that their bank accounts are funded for their desired voucher values to go through, said Ng’ambi.

“The beauty with the Escom pre-paid service on our ATMs is that they will be no need for customers to register for the service. All they need is an Indebank card to transact,” he said.

Ng’ambi said that all services that are available on Indebank ATMs are displayed once the customer inserts the ATM card and punches in the pin, which must not be shared with third parties.

“Once the ATM card is inserted and the screen is displayed, the customer will be required to select ‘other’ and then ESCOM units after which the customer is required to enter the desired ESCOM account number,” he said.

He said the service will even allow Indebank customers to buy units for friends and family that are not Indebank customers.

Indebank has a total of 18 ATMs countrywide from where Escom units can be purchased.

Other value added services already available on the Indebank ATM’s include Airtel, TNM, Access and MTL airtime vouchers as well as internet vouchers from Globe Internet Limited and payment of Escom post paid bills.
