Ethanol Company Limited (EthCo), a subsidiary of Press Corporation Limited (PCL) has handed over a motor cycle worth K1.7 million to Nkhunga Health Centre in Dwangwa.

The donation is meant to replace Nkhunga’s old faulty motor cycle.

Presenting the donation, EthCo Head of Administration and Company Secretary, Clifford Masoatengenji, said they decided to donate a new motor cycle all together even though the Health Centre requested them to assist with repairs for their old motor cycle.

“This is part of our corporate social responsibility, we want to give back to the community where we operate our business from and we thought by donating a brand new motor cycle, it will better assist the health centre with its mobility problems,” said Masoatengenji.

He said this is not the first time that EthCo has helped Nkhunga Health Centre.

“The Company has in the previous years, installed and maintained water tanks and the necessary accessories to enable uninterrupted supply of water at the facility. In addition, Ethco has previously donated various medical supplies. In the year 2015,

EthCo bailed out the clinic of its electricity bills debt and carried out some maintenance at the facility spending just over K1 million in the process,” said Masoatengenji.

Nkhunga Health Centre Sister-in-Charge, Fanny Kabango, thanked EthCo for the timely gesture saying the donation will solve mobility problems at the clinic.

“We have been having problems with transport for the past one year and we could not carry out service to other outreach areas. EthCo has been like a mother to us helping with different countless resources and the motor bike just came on time,” said Kabango.

“I would like to urge other companies to emulate the example set by EthCo by supporting the communities where they operate from,” added Kabango.
