Legendary musician Mtebeti Wambali Mkandawire and gospel songbird Ethel Kamwendo Banda on Saturday received honorary PhD and masters in musicology, respectively, conferred by Cyprus International Institute of USA during a graduation ceremony held at Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.
Cyprus International Institute Second Vice Chancellor Professor Gusto Gadama said last Tuesday that the two were conferred with the degrees for contributing a lot in the development of music in the country.
After receiving his PhD in musicology in the morning, Wambali capped it all with a two hour non-stop performance at the same venue on Saturday night during the launch of his ninth album (Calabrash Breath).
