Everton Chimulirenji asks disloyal DPP officials to resign

By Pemphero Malimba:
Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) National Campaign Director Everton Chimulirenji has asked some party officials in Ntcheu to resign if they are not ready to support the party’s comeback to power in 2025.
Chimulirenji said the party needs officials who are dedicated to make the party visible across the district.
“There are some party leaders who are just staying idle in their positions. We urge them to voluntarily resign so that they should pave way for some members who are showing commitment to support the party,” he said.
The DPP National Campaign Director who was also a running mate to former President Peter Mutharika during the 2019 tripartite elections further called for unity to stabilize the party.
“The truth remains Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is the current DPP president as such we as party officials need to work together to realize the party’s ambitions of coming back to power,” he said.
He said this in Ntcheu after meeting the party’s district and regional officials.
DPP Eastern Region Secretary Kamphodza Ngozo has assured of the region’s support towards the party’s visibility in the district.
“We are so much ready to support each district officials in the region if they want to conduct rallies and other activities,” Ngozo said.
Ntcheu district DPP Forum Chairperson Charles Tepeka disclosed that the party will soon hold political rallies in all seven constituencies in the district as part of activities lined up to strengthen it’s existence.
DPP was booted out of power during the 2020 fresh presidential elections which saw the then Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Lazarus Chakwera and UTM leader Saulos Chilima emerging winners as the country’s President and Vice President respectively.
