Ex-Arsenal starlet supports Malawi school

French footballer Jeff- Reine Adelaide has committed 25,000 Euros (about K25 million) to the Partners Association in order to complete the financing of the construction of a school in Balaka, Malawi.

The OGC Nice midfielder, who is continuing his rehabilitation after a ligament rupture, provided the support to a school in Balaka District.

Through the support, more than 500 children, who were travelling about 10 kilometers every day to reach the nearest school, will now have their own close to home next school year.

The Indian Paper reported this week that Adelaide supported the school to ensure that children were able to access quality education.

“I was immediately touched by this project because it is unthinkable for me that children walk 10km every day to go to class,” the midfielder who is on loan at Nice from Olympic Lyonnais was quoted as saying.

“It is a lot of emotion and honour for me. Partners has proven its worth for many years around the world, helping to improve the conditions of life of tens of thousands of people. I am proud to be involved alongside this wonderful association and its volunteers.”

Adelaide joined Lyon in August 2019 for a deal around 23 million pounds having impressed for Angers following his permanent departure from Arsenal in 2018.

But he found playing opportunities limited at the start of 2020/21 before moving to Nice on a season long-loan deal, with an option to make the move permanent
