“We look for school-going children and dropouts to take them back to school, preferably from government school, because they don’t have the opportunity of a sports day at their schools

“Currently, we have five main programmes and they include play and stay tennis, on court life skills mentorship, Maso Patsogolo School’s mentorship, Keep Girls in School programme and Computer Literacy initiative,” she said.

Kandulu-Ngosi hatched the idea to set up an academy when she was in the United States for her athletic scholarship.

She observed that a lot of young people in Malawi have so much athletic talent but lacked exposure and nurturing.

Kandulu-Ngosi also noticed that most of the renowned local athletes did not do well with their education and made plans to encourage youngsters to passionately study and play.

“The main goal of the foundation is to develop talent and guide children towards a safe and healthy life, without crime, malnutrition and lack of education. We follow up on their education performance to ensure that education comes first,” she said.

Since its establishment the foundation has experienced tremendous success in terms of transforming the lives of young people in Lilongwe City.
