Ex-Silver Strikers officials vie for Sulom post

Former Silver Strikers officials Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda and Innocent Kadam’manja are set to battle for the post of Super League of Malawi (Sulom) legal adviser after declaring interest to contest.
Sulom will hold Annual General Meeting (AGM) this month where among other things will elect a new legal adviser following the resignation of Muhammad Selemani in December last year.
Nyirenda said, having served Silver for some years, he understands the challenges that the clubs were facing and was better placed to serve them.
“I am a lawyer by profession and I was once a legal adviser and general secretary for Silver Strikers, so I know what happens in football. I have experience and I would like to assure clubs that I will help them when it comes to legal issues and I am ready to work with them,” he said.
On his part, Kadam’manja said he decided to compete for the post because of his knowledge as a lawyer.
“I am now spending 10 years in football administration and I am also a lawyer by profession. I have served Silver both as vice secretary and acting general secretary. I have the confidence that I can help the clubs by serving them professionally,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sulom Vice President, Gilbert Mitawa, is holding the post on temporary basis.
