Export Trading Group of Companies (ETG) has donated various food items to International Youth Fellowship (IYF), which is expected to host over 1,000 youths during this year’s Youth Dream Camp in Lilongwe.

The camp, which is expected to run from June 1 to 4, will offer young people from across the globe the opportunity to share real life experiences, challenges and participate in mindset lectures.

Speaking when he officially presented the donation to IYF leadership, ETG Lilongwe Branch Marketing Manager, Felix Kazambala, said the donation was in response to the appeal the global youth and international non-governmental organisation made to the company.

“As a company, we are happy to be associated with the forthcoming youth camp because it will play a crucial role in preventing immoral behaviours among our youths while enabling them to learn from their friends. That’s why we didn’t hesitate to donate cooking oil, soya pieces and beans, among other things, as per their request to us,” Kazambala said.

Kazambala added that the donation is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility, which espouses putting the interests of young people at the centre of development initiatives.

IYF Country Director, Pastor Samuel Kim, said young people across the globe are growing up in an awkward environment, which lacks so many resources to enable them to develop into responsible citizens.

Kim said, through the Mindset Education Programme, the fellowship intends to raise leaders with a global insight through youth education and activities that offer realistic solutions to problems in the global village.

“Like a healthy body requires good food, good rest and good exercise, a healthy mindset requires positive thinking. That’s why this camp is organised to prepare the youth to become responsible and positive-minded citizens,” he said.

IYF’s Mindset Education Programme aims to provide training and guidance for spiritual and mental growth, which are said to be essential for youth development.
