Extreme earn Super League promotion

Extreme have made history by becoming the first team from Mchinji District to earn promotion to the TNM Super League following 2-0 victory over Wimbe FC at Aubrey Dimba Ground in Kapiri, Mchinji, on Sunday.
With a match to spare, Extreme have an unassailable lead at the summit of the table with 18 points, five above second-placed Wimbe of Kasungu District.
Apart from Super League promotion, Extreme will pocket K1.5 million plus a trophy as Chipiku Stores Premier Division champions.
Gregory Mwase scored a brace to ensure maximum points for the Mchinji-based side.
Extreme will face Luanar away in their last match of the campaign at Kamuzu Barracks ground on Sunday.
In post-match reaction, Extreme Coach Joseph Mlamba praised his boys for showing great character throughout the season.
“It was not an easy road for us but the boys were determined. We have made history. Congratulations to the players,” he said.
On his part, Wimbe Coach Jamu Binali said the environment was hostile.
“We were intimidated for the entire 90 minutes. This is not good for football. A loss is a blessing in disguise for us; we saved our lives,” he said.
Wimbe will wind up the Chipiku League campaign when they host Silver Strikers Reserve at Kasungu Stadium Wednesday.
This means the line-up for 2023 TNM Super League is complete.
Chitipa United and Bangwe All Stars will represent the Northern and Southern Region, respectively.
