Faith Mussa, who is on a European tour that will take him to Germany and Austria, said Tuesday he is happy with the opportunities that have come up into his musical cabinet including the deal he is set to sign with Universal Music Group.
Faith said the deal has not yet materialised.
“I have read their contract and I have suggested changes. Once that is sorted, I should be signing the contract any day from now,” the ‘Mdidi’ hitmaker said.
He said he got in touch with Universal Music Group through music label Beating Heart which produced his yet-to-be released album coming out in August.
According to available information, Universal Music Group (also known in the United States as UMG Recordings, Inc. and abbreviated as UMG) is an American global music corporation that is a subsidiary of the French media conglomerate Vivendi.
UMG’s global corporate headquarters are located in Santa Monica, California. It is considered one of the ‘Big Three’ music companies, along with Sony Music and Warner Music Group.
In 2019, Fast Company named Universal Music Group the most innovative music company and listed UMG among the top 50 most innovative companies in the world.
Meanwhile, Faith has said United Kingdom musical group Rudimental will be releasing the song titled ‘Sitigawana’.
“This is the song featuring me and I linked up with them when I performed at the Glastonbury Festival in the United Kingdom in 2017. The song will be available online, Spotify included,” he said.
The singer and guitarist said he is the one who suggested the Chichewa title.
“It is a love song. The song was done in both languages English and Chichewa,” he said.
Rudimental is an English drum and bass band, signed to Asylum Records, Atlantic Records and Black Butter Records.
The band was nominated for a Mercury Prize in 2013, and won several awards including the Brit Award and the Mobo Award for Best Album.
The group also received nominations at the MTV Europe Music Awards for Best New Act, and Best UK and Ireland act.
Rudimental has achieved multiple Platinum awards for record sales in several countries including in the UK and Australia.
“I am happy to have worked with them and I am looking forward to more of such opportunities,” he said.
Faith is also expected to feature in South African gospel musician Pastor Benjamin Dube’s latest album.
The artist has been engaged in workshops and performances in Germany and will be leaving for Austria today before a concert Thursday.
