Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has stopped self-proclaimed scout, Prince Jere, from transacting any football deal in the country following a series of flaws.
Fam Club Licensing and Transfer Matching System Manager, Casper Jangale, said the association was in the process of notifying local clubs to avoid dealing with Jere as he was not a qualified intermediary.
“We are warning all the clubs against dealing with Jere who is not a licensed football intermediary. He doesn’t appear anywhere in the system so dealing with him is a risk and Fam will not be answerable in future,” Jangale said.
He said Fam recognises Jimmy Zakazaka, Felix Sapao and Maya Msungama as certified intermediaries.
When quizzed why Jere transacted some deals in the country, Jangale said he might have been using a licence obtained from other countries.
“I still insist we don’t have those records at our office of an intermediary called Jere. This is the reason we are writing clubs officially today [Monday] to warn them against dealing with this man,” Jangale said.
Meanwhile, Jere who claims to be representing over 13 foreign players, described Jangale’s remarks as mere football politics.
“Ndi ndale zampira achimwene. Anthu akufuna kuthana nane basi. (This is purely football politics, my brother. People are working hard to frustrate my efforts). For your information I am working hard to export more players. I represent over 15 players,” he said while claiming to have been involved in deals that saw Silver Strikers defender, Yunus Sherrif, Be Forward Wanderers duo Babatunde Adepoju and Eric Atsiga signing for local teams.
Jere, through his firm Touchline Football Agency, also claimed to have been representing 13 local women football players.
“It is unfair to call me an unprofessional player agent,” he said.
Jere went on to produce two letters from football intermediaries from Zambia and Cameroon as the ones that certified him.
However, we were unable to verify the authenticity of the letters.
Fam has come under intense pressure after Jere reportedly dumped Kamuzu Barracks midfielder, Chikoti Chirwa, in South Africa.
Jere claimed that Chirwa had signed a five months loan deal with South Africa National First Division side Royal Eagles ahead of his pending move to Premier Soccer League side, Amazulu.
However, both clubs denied signing the Malawian midfielder.
Chirwa is still in Durban, South Africa and is expected back today.
Businessman Collen Fezah reportedly hosted Chirwa following Jere’s disappearance after failing to pay accommodation and food bills for three weeks.
