MTATHIKO— We value all sponsorships

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has said it wants to be involved in sponsorship discussions for major football events and associations in the country.

Fam Executive Member, Daudi Mtathiko, said the move would help stakeholders transact in a professional and orderly manner.

Mtathiko made the remarks after TNM acting Chief Executive Officer, Eric Valentine, revealed plans to engage both Fam and Super League of Malawi (Sulom) when holding discussions for sponsorship extension.

“We value all sponsorships from the corporate world and the government. We particularly value TNM’s sponsorship, which has been there for many years. TNM is setting the pace and we are happy that the company is planning to extend the sponsorship beyond 2020,” Mtathiko said.

He said being part of sponsorship discussions would help Fam to take care of all relevant areas that need to be addressed before contracts are signed.

“We want to have a say in all contracts that are being signed out there. It is our plea and prayer that when time comes for negotiations or re-negotiations of this particular agreement [between Sulom and TNM], we will be there. Fairness and professionalism are vital when transacting in contractual matters,” Mtathiko said.

Ministry of Labour, Youth, Sports and Manpower Development Principal Secretary, Joseph Mwandidya, who represented Sports Minister Grace Chiumia, hailed TNM for the sponsorship.
