Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has announced that its elective Annual General Meeting (AGM) would be held on December 14 at Sunbird Nkopola Lodge in Mangochi District.
The local football governing body’s Executive Committee made the decision during a meeting held at Mpira Village in Blantyre yesterday.
Fam General Secretary, Alfred Gunda, said the committee arrived at the date as it falls within the expiry period of its tenure.
“The Exco was elected on December 16 2015 and the four-year mandate would end on December 15, so holding the elections on December 14 is in order.
“The Committee also settled for Mangochi, which hosted the last elections, because it is conducive. Last time we had no problems with security as was the case with other venues in the past,” Gunda said.
He said Fam’s Electoral Committee, which met last week, was supposed to draw a programme of events leading to the AGM.
During the meeting, the Committee was also briefed on progress made in preparing to host the Cosafa Under-17 Youth Championship which kicks off on Friday.
