Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has expressed satisfaction with teams’ general conduct in last weekend’s Fisd Challenge Cup games.
Super League teams joined their regional counterparts in eliminating each other from the competition in the run up to the national phase on Saturday and Sunday.
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Competitions and Media Manager, Gomezgani Zakazaka, said there were no reports of any misconduct amongst players, officials and supporters.
“We’re very happy with the overall conduct of teams and their supporters. All the matches played had no cases of improper conduct and we are encouraging everyone to continue behaving,” said Zakazaka.
He also said the development would motivate more companies to bankroll teams as well as introduce various tournaments.
The news comes in the wake of several violent acts witnessed in the Carlsberg Cup that resulted in teams, officials and players being fined or banned for several matches.
The weekend games saw eight of the Super League teams being eliminated from the competition with another eight proceeding to the national draw.
Some of the big names that were knocked out of the Fisd Challenge Cup were Mafco, Moyale, Azam Tigers and Mzuni.
The national draw was conducted yesterday in Lilongwe with eight Super League teams being drawn in the same pot with eight regional teams.
