Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has intervened in the ongoing transfer wrangle between Premier Bet Wizards and Silver Strikers over exciting midfielder, Thuso Paipi.

The association has since ordered Silver to stop featuring the winger with immediate effect or risk sanctions.

“We, hereby, advise Super League of Malawi (Sulom), through your good office, to cancel Paipi’s registration with Silver as he reverts, with immediate effect, to his parent club [Wizards] where he is contracted until June 30, 2018,”reads part of the letter signed by Fam General Secretary, Suzgo Nyirenda.

“The loan agreement was for six months up until September, 30, 2016. By continuous use of the player, Silver risk sanctions.”

Wizards’ Technical Director, Peter Mponda, demanded K3.5million from the Central Bankers to make Paipi’s transfer permanent. Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers were also interested in Paipi.

Mponda, who recently wrote to Sulom over Paipi’s disputed transfer, said yesterday he was disappointed with Silver for failing to honour the promise.

“They got cheated that Thuso’s contract is ending at the end of the season. They rushed into offering him a contract, but Thuso has a contract with Wizards until 2018,” Mponda said.

Silver Acting-General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, insisted that they reached an agreement with Wizards.

“We are surprised by Fam’s decision,” he said.

Paipi was Wednesday reluctant to comment on the issue but admitted that he was still contracted to Wizards.

“I do not know how many years are left on my contract with them (Wizards),” said the player, who faces an unpleasant situation of leaving the potential Super League champions, Silver, for the bottom-placed, Wizards.

Sulom Vice-General Secretary, Thokozani Chazema, said on Wednesday they will ensure that both teams abide by Fam’s directive.

“As Sulom, we urge teams to fulfill their transfer obligations pertaining to loan or transfer agreements,” Chazema said.

Paipi and fellow winger, Duncan Nyoni, have been revelations this season at Silver having displayed solid performances.
