Malawi National Football Team and Nyasa Big Bullets striker Hassan Kajoke has been suspended after breaking camping rules.
Kajoke was in camp with the Flames squad which is preparing for 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against South Sudan and Uganda but sneaked out and went home for unknown reasons.
This has put the striker in hot soup, with authorities ruling him out of the two crucial matches later this month.
By sneaking out of camp, Kajoke broke Article 14 of the National Team Code of Conduct as well as Covid protocols.
All players and officials were tested for coronavirus before going into camp last month, with those who tested positive being sent into self-isolation.
Football Association of Malawi (Fam) General Secretary Alfred Gunda described Kajoke’s behaviour as unfortunate.
“It is very unfortunate that when we are working hard to play it safe, someone is indulging in behaviour that puts lives of the entire team at risk. We cannot tolerate that kind of behaviour,” Gunda said.
Minus Kajoke, Flames coach Meck Mwase only has Royal Bokosi and Stain Davie as strikers in camp after Mighty Wanderers forward Vincent Nyangulu returned home due to a knock.
However, Nyangulu is still being assessed ahead of the two matches and could return should he recover in time.
