Fam to bang heads over polls, Cosafa

TO HOST COSAFA—Chiwembe Stadium

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Executive Committee will meet over the weekend to brainstorm on the forthcoming Cosafa Under-17 Championship and December elections.

Fam Chief Executive Officer, Alfred Gunda, said the meeting would define the country’s state of preparedness for the two events.

Gunda said the Executive Committee members will receive a report from Cosafa Local Organising Committee on the progress of hosting the tournament.

“We are looking forward to having a successful tournament,” Gunda said.

He hinted that the Executive Committee might agree on the calendar for the elections.

Soccer pundit Higger Mkandawire said the meeting needs to come up with concrete ideas for the betterment of Malawi football.

“I don’t think we should expect much from this meeting. All we can ask them is to make sure that they should discuss issues of reviving our football. They should consider bringing our football culture,” Mkandawire said.

Malawi will host Cosafa tournament from October 11 to 20 at Chiwembe and Kamuzu stadiums in Blantyre.
