Fam to reschedule curtailed meeting

Football Association of Malawi (Fam) plans to reschedule the curtailed 2021 budget consultative meeting within three weeks.
The meeting was curtailed at Capital Hotel in Lilongwe on Saturday after some affiliates demanded a full financial report on how the association used funds.
Fam First Vice President Jabbar Alide said the meeting would take place in three or four weeks.
“Secretariat will follow through the process and ensure that they set the meeting in line with the guidance given. The guidance that I gave was that we must meet in three weeks again,” he said.
Southern Region Football Association Chairperson Raphael Humba said they were not satisfied with the budget as clubs and leagues were facing financial constraints due to long layoff as a result of coronavirus cases.
“We were assured by the meeting’s chairperson [Alide] that we will meet again soon to give time to the secretariat to rework the budget. We do not know when football will resume and how our teams will survive during this time. The budget does not reflect this. We have national team assignments and yet our league is on break; so, we will wait for three weeks to plan,” he said.
Fam has allocated about K2.8 billion for its activities and operations from last month to June.
