Fattani Printers win FMB T20 Cricket

Fattani Printers Cricket Club underlined their class to lift the championship for the FMB T20 Cricket Knockout Tournament in Blantyre last Sunday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Fattani beat defending champions, Anchor Industries, at Country Club Limbe.

The champions got all-out with 131 runs. Minhaz Sapa, who was man-of-the match, made 43 runs.

His teammate Ahson Rashid scored 33 runs.

In response, Anchor were supposed to score 132 runs in 20-overs to win the final.

Instead, Khurshid Khan took three wickets.

Anchor Team Manager, Asif Gillani, said even though they surrendered the trophy, it was a great tournament.

“It is not about losing but interaction. We really had a good time. We met all sort of opposition. We thank FMB for sponsoring the tournament. We are also grateful to our sponsor, Anchor Industries, for supporting this team,” he said.

Fattani Captain, Saeed Limdawala, said win n in g the championship was inevitable as they have assembled a strong side.

“We were firing from all cylinders and we will try to defend the cup next year,” he said.

In individual awards, Tasaddud Hussain of Anchor was named as Best Batsman whereas Sohel Manjra of Eazy Pack was named as Best Bowler.

Fattani also produced Player-of-the Tournament in Asif Rustam.

FMB Marketing Manager, Widdey Nsona, said the tournament was a success.

He cited the involvement of indigenous players in the competition as a milestone.

“We also saw the number of teams increasing from 11 to 16, which is quite commendable. We want to see more teams next years. As long as the sport is growing, we will continue sponsoring the competition,” he said.
