FAVOURED MARTHA—The first CD went at K2.6 million

Gospel musician Favoured Martha, real name Martha Pingasa, on Sunday celebrated her healing that went together with the launch of her third album Mawa Limafika at Robin’s Park in Blantyre.

The singer has been out of the stage for some time due to illness and now that she has recovered, she decided to celebrate the healing.

“I thought it was good to thank the Lord for His healing mercies and that had to go with the album launch,” Favoured Martha said Monday.

Her illness culminated people creating news on social media that the singer was ‘dead’.

Musicians Union of Malawi came out to condemn those who created the fake news.

The families of Pingasa and Malamula followed with a statement informing people that Favoured Martha had been discharged from hospital.

The families thanked all people who gave them support during the period the gospel musician was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre.

Favoured Martha, who is also Mum Vice President, has made strides in her music, winning the hearts of many people.

Last year, she was second on the list of Airtel ringtones royalties’ recipients disbursed by Copyright Society of Malawi for the years 2013 and 2015.

She received over K2.8 million, with Skeffa Chimoto topping the list, pocketing over K3.2 million.

Her album fetched K4.1 million during auction.

“I would like to thank people for patronising the celebration show where I also launched the third album. The first CD went at K2.6 million and was bought by Humphreys Mally while the second was bought at K1.1 million by David Maluwa,” Favoured Martha said.

During the celebration show, according to Favoured Martha, there was a raffle draw where a Mrs Majamanda went away with a dinning set.

“We will also be giving out a TV stand in a raffle draw for another celebration concert and launch this coming Sunday at Robin’s Park in Zomba,” she said.

Other acts that spiced up the celebration concert on Sunday were Ethel Kamwendo-Banda, Thoko Suya, Great Angels Choir, Peter Uyu Mlangeni and Evans Meleka.

Favoured Martha’s Mawa Limafika, which she dropped last year was produced by Khumbo Kaliwo at Studio 88.

Some of the songs in the 10-track album include ‘Uchedwelanji’, ‘Paumunthu’ and ‘Ndampeza’.

Her previous albums are Ondikonda Ndilinaye and Yehova Musalole.
