Favoured Martha readies for double launch

Having received an overwhelming response with her second album titled Yehova Musavomeleze, gospel singer Martha Pingasa popularly known as Favoured Martha has said she will launch a CD and a DVD for the album.

The Musician Union of Malawi (Mum) vice president said she has been forced to launch a double having received tremendous support from the people.

“I have sold so many copies with my second album, I never saw this coming but I just want to thank God for the talent.

The support I receive from people continues to motivate me to compose more mature songs,” said the singer, who rose to fame performing with her colleague Mwayi Kalolokesya as Favoured Sisters before going solo.

The award winning songstress who was among the artists that performed during Apostle Enesia Chitheka Lewis’ fundraiser at Comesa Hall in Blantyre last Friday said the launch starts on June 20 at Gymkhana Club in Zomba before dating Robin’s Park in Blantyre on June 21 and then Sheaffer ICA Marquee in Lilongwe on June 28.

Some of the artists set to perform during the launch include Prophets of Vision, Princess Chitsulo, Grace Chinga, Ethel Kamwendo Banda, Allan Chirwa, Thocco Katimba, Limbani Simenti, Kamuzu Barracks Gospel Singers, Mlaka Maliro, Evance Meleka, Peter Uyu Mulangeni, Khama Khwiliro, Maggie Mangani and The Great Angels Choir.

“This will be a different launch and people should brace to see something different and exciting but more importantly it will be a time for people to sample the songs and be ministered to,” she said.

Favoured Martha’s album has 10 songs and they include ‘Ababa Musabvomeleze,’ ‘Ondikonda Ndinu,’ ‘Yehova Mbusa Wanga,’ ‘Amandikonda,’ ‘Ndine Odala,’ ‘Osunga Moyo,’ ‘Uko Kumwamba,’ ‘Mau Otsiliza,’ and ‘Zochimwa pa mtanda.’

The album was recorded at Groove Magic Studio in Blantyre by renowned producer and musician Joseph Tembo.

The singer’s first solo album was Ondikonda Ndili Naye.
