FCB hails graduate trainee programme

EQUIPPED—Graduate trainees pose with FCB staff

First Capital Bank (FCB) has launched its 2021 Graduate Trainee programme while speaking highly of the initiative, saying it has helped in shaping a special crop of professionals.

Through the programme, the bank has taken 10 graduates from tertiary education institutions in the country.

Speaking during the launch recently, First Capital Bank Chief Executive Officer Jaco Viljoen underscored the importance of the programme.

“Every member of the trainee programme is thoroughly trained and equipped to become a highly skilled banker. We therefore are setting up the youth of this country for a career in banking,” he said.

The programme has been running for six years and seen some trainees attaining positions in and outside the bank.

Viljoen added that, through the programme, the bank has also seen positive returns which have helped in its growth.

“The bank also benefits from the surprisingly excellent talent Malawi has, embedded in these outstanding individuals,” he added.

He said the bank believed that the programme would help with job creation, which is critical, especially at a time when the economy has been disturbed by the Covid pandemic.

Job creation also stands top government’s priority list, especially for the youths who have freshly graduated from tertiary education centres.
