FCB Nyasa Bullets beat Bangwe All Stars, extend lead

By Isaac Salima:
FCB Nyasa Bullets Friday consolidated their lead in the TNM Super League after defeating Bangwe All Stars 2-0 at Mpira Stadium in Chiwembe Township, Blantyre.
Lanjesi Nkhoma’s first half brace ensured that The People’s Team grab maximum points and continue dominating affairs with 13 points from five games.
Nkhoma broke the deadlock in the 14th minute after being supplied by the impressive Alick Lungu before coming again two minutes later to finish an interchange of passes after beating Ernest Kakhobwe in a one-on-one situation.
Both goals were a result of a lapse in defence from the hosts.
It was a one sided first that saw Bullets dominating the display against the debutants, who did not feature some of the regulars who are on loan from The People’s Team.
Bangwe, who went into the game undefeated in four games, looked a potential side to disturb the defending champions but it was never to be as it sat back and were outplayed in all departments.
It was a balanced second half as Bangwe rejuvenated and started pressing forward but it was too little and too late for them.
Bullets Coach Kalisto Pasuwa was happy with the victory and his team’s play.
“I am also impressed with how the team is fairing and this shows that we have depth,” he said.
Bangwe Coach Mabvuto Lungu bemoaned the team’s lack of concentration in the early stages of the game.
“Those two early goals were the turning point of the game because there was no fighting spirit. But we came back in the second half and I am happy that we rejuvenated only that it had no impact,” Lungu said.
