FCB Nyasa Bullets gun for top spot

TNM Super League champions FCB Nyasa Bullets have a chance to go top of the table when they face Moyale Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium this afternoon.
With three matches played so far, Bullets are second on the log table with seven points, two points behind leaders Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, who will be in action against Mighty Tigers at Mpira Stadium Sunday.
Third-placed Silver Strikers will face Ekwendeni Hammers at Mzuzu Stadium Sunday.
A win for Bullets will see them leapfrogging their rivals Wanderers.
However, Moyale Barracks are not pushovers at this stage.
A draw or a loss for Bullets means Wanderers will maintain top spot ahead of their Sunday’s fixture.
Both teams are coming from 1-0 victories in their respective away matches last weekend.
The People’s Team earned a hard fought 1-0 victory over Extreme at Civo Stadium last Saturday whereas the soldiers registered a similar result against Kamuzu Barracks at the same venue on Sunday.
Bullets Coach Kalisto Pasuwa knows that Moyale are a good side that can cause an upset at any stage.
“We expect a very good game against Moyale. As I have always said, every team is motivated when they play us,” Pasuwa said.
Last season, Bullets defeated the soldiers 3-1 at Kamuzu Stadium after a 2-1 victory in the first round.
Moyale Coach Nicholas Mhango believes his charges are good enough to collect maximum points against Bullets at their own backyard.
“The players are ready for the match and we hope we will get all the three points,” Mhango said.
Moyale are on position five with five points from three matches.
In other matches today, Civil Service United will host Mafco at Civo Stadium whereas Blue Eagles will be searching for their first win of the season when they face Chitipa United at Nankhaka Stadium.
Civil claimed a 1-0 win over Mighty Tigers last week whereas Mafco have lost two consecutive matches.
