FDH follows up on social investment
A representative of FDH Bank has expressed satisfaction at mother groups in Thyolo for the progress made and well management of equipment that the bank donated to the groups last year.
The bank donated a Covid-19 relief package worth K3 million to support the mother groups in schools in Thyolo, Phalombe, Zomba, Mulanje and Chiradzulu Districts.
During a visit to mother groups at Ligowe and Nyambalo schools in Tradition Authority Bvumbwe, in Thyolo District, it transpired that the investment is achieving its purpose.
FDH Bank spokesperson, Lorraine Lusinje, said they want to ensure that the initiative achieves its purpose of transforming the people’s lives.
“The mother groups in the five districts were in 2019 equipped with sewing machines to produce, among others, masks and uniforms for school children. They were also given hand-washing facilities to promote sanitation in schools. We went to visit the mother groups in Thyolo to appreciate the progress of the project,” Lusinje said.
Deputy Director in the Department of School Health under the Ministry of Education, Virginia Kachigunda, said the ministry is grateful for the initiative.
“Let me thank FDH bank for the invaluable role played in making the funds processed and available for the ministry’s utilisation,” Kachigunda said.
Representatives of the mother groups, Ruth Sato and Janet Benjamin, expressed gratitude to the bank and the Ministry saying the initiative has helped them sustain their economic wellbeing and will be able to support their children once schools reopen.
