FDH gives Podcam K5 million
First Discount House (FDH) on Thursday presented a K5 million cheque to the Parents of Disabled Children Association of Malawi (Podcam) to help the grouping initiate a revolving fund.
FDH Managing Director, Mike Chiwalo, said his firm appreciates the various challenges parents face in raising children with disabilities.
Chiwalo said key among the challenges is a shortage of financial resources to provide for the basic needs of the children.
He said the assistance will help the parents to engage in income generating activities to enable them raise the much-needed resources for their day to day needs.
“We are confident that this donation will help improve the lives of children with disabilities in Malawi,” said Chiwalo.
He observed that Podcam will be responsible for the administration of the revolving fund, adding that his firm will only demand periodic reports.
“We believe that if this fund could be properly taken care of, it could grow and benefit more parents across the country,” said Chiwalo.
Podcam Chairperson, Godfrey Chafuwa, hailed FDH for the donation.
He promised that the money will be used for the intended purpose to benefit as many children with disabilities as possible.
