He further said the payment system would be accessible to customers and non-customers of the bank at no cost.

“We are confident that this development will bridge the gap that has been there in terms of access to payment channels for subscribers. As a bank that champions growth, our goal is to bring solutions that meet our customers’ needs. Our array of digital platforms and wide footprint will offer subscribers convenient payment options,” Msapato said.

MultiChoice Malawi General Manager, Augustine Banda, said the initiative highlighted the company’s business desire to create sustainable value within Malawi.

“We believe it is our responsibility to take care of, and reward our, valued customers because we understand they do not like to travel long distances to our offices just to pay for subscription and sometimes spend time on a queue. So, they will certainly be happy with this initiative.

“We know that, sometimes, our digital platforms are tripping but customers should understand that issues of technology are like that sometimes; that’s why we have multiple platforms that, if one fails, they should be assisted through another [platform],” Banda said.

Customers will be able to pay subscription through the banks 52 service centres, 92 ATMs, over 200 Banki Pakhomo agents across the country and mobile phones.
