FDH Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the country’s agriculture sector development through various initiatives.

This was revealed as the bank donated K3.5 million to Total Land Care, to be used for implementing climate smart agriculture initiative.

FDH Bank Public Relations Officer, Lorraine Lusinje, said it was important that the country adjusts accordingly to the effects of climate change.

“FDH Bank supports initiatives that propel development. Total Land Care is involved in climate smart agriculture initiatives that are improving livelihoods in various communities. We thought of adopting a project so that we can sustain the livelihoods of communities and families in the areas,” Lusinje said.

Total Land Care Executive Director, Zwide Jere, said the donation would go a long way in helping beneficiaries’ families.

“We appreciate this donation, which is going towards developing a solar irrigation project at Milala Dam, Traditional Authority Kuntaja, in Blantyre, which will support communities,” Jere said.

The project is aimed at helping 27 farmers, 19 of which are women, and eight men.

Jere said using technology would improve the impact of their projects on communities.

The K3.5 million will be used for purchasing solar irrigation equipment to be used by the farmers.
