Fifa referee blames accident for failure

Fifa referee Eliza Sichinga has attributed her failure in physical fitness test to an accident she was involved in recently.
Sichinga failed the test at Mzuzu Stadium on Saturday.
Following her failure, Sichinga will not officiate both local and international games.
Sichinga said she has been suffering from headache ever since she was involved in a car accident recently.
“I was involved in an accident recently. My head hit the steering wheel after the car I was driving was hit at the back. I was examined at the hospital but I was cleared.
“I started feeling headache on Monday. The pain just comes at some point and goes. I can’t explain the pain but it is sharp and severe,” she said Sichinga said she did not want to miss the test because of her reputation.
The pain came severe when I was about to start the last lap so I could not carry on,” she said.
Sichinga said she would undergo a CT-Scan Tuesday to determine the extent of her head injury.
“I was taken to the hospital where I was kept under observation before being discharged. I have been given pain killers. I have been advised to undergo further examination on Tuesday. Depending on the results I will decide when to take a retest,” she said.
National Referees Instructor Moffat Champiti confirmed that Sichinga had failed the test.
“However, we weren’t briefed about any situation before the start of the test,” he said.
