Residents of Liwaladzi Trading Centre in Nkhotakota Sunday morning woke up to horrifying news that a 15-year-old boy was stabbed to death for allegedly tussling over a sex worker.
Nkhunga Police Public Relations Officer, Ignatius Esau, confirmed the incident yesterday in an interview that the deceased picked up a quarrel with his alleged killer 22-year-old Thokozani Kaunda.
However, the suspect is on the run.
Esau said, on Saturday night, the two were drinking at Liwaladzi Trading Centre and they were hanging out with the same sex worker.
“Disagreements erupted between them after both realised that they were going out with the same sex worker. This resulted into a fight but was successfully stopped by onlookers.”
He said but when the victim was on his way home, the suspect stabbed him on the chest using a knife and was left unconscious.
“Passers-by took him to a nearby Liwaladzi Health Centre where he succumbed to the wounds upon arrival,” said Esau adding the suspect is expected to answer a count of murder.
The victim hailed from Chindevu Village while the suspect comes from Chiusi Village both in the area of Traditional Authority Kanyenda.
Meanwhile, police have advised parents to exercise responsible parenthood by ensuring their wards refrain from indulging in anti-social behaviour.
