Finca-Malawi intensifies financial inclusion drive

Malawi, has reiterated its commitment to contributing towards the national financial inclusion drive and extending its reach to the country’s unbanked population.


Finca said it is targeting to double its client base from the current 50,000 by the end of 2018.

On Friday, Finca launched Ponse Ponse initiative, aimed at increasing its reach.

Addressing journalists at the launch, Finca Channels Business Manager, Felizaeda Mbewe, said the firm intends to bring banking services closer the people through mobile and agency banking.


She said, through the service, Finca is prioritising convenience for customers.

“We are bringing banking closer to the people through mobile and agency banking. Customers can easily access our services,” Mbewe said.

Finca has 69 agencies across the country.

One of Blantyre-based Finca agents, Felistas Chikusilo, said the initiative is helping customers to easily access banking services.

“We have seen a lot of customers coming in for banking transactions. Sometimes there would be long queues in banking halls but they are assisted very fast in the outlets,” Chikusilo said.

Finca provides financial services to low-income and small business owners to invest in the future and has over 23 countrywide.
